Branding and label design for Huron County’s very first vineyard cultivating unique wines from a rich and flavourful terroir.
Huron County has had a long and successful history with agriculture however growing grapes had never been a possibility. The Landsborough family were determined to prove they could by transforming their land into the County’s very first winery.
Their goal was to respect and protect the biological diversity of their estate by limiting their intervention during processing. This meant fewer chemicals and gentler filtering practices. This “hands-off” approach would allow the richness of the earth to impact the flavour of the wine.
With a bit of patience and fortitude, success finally came knocking. “Maelström” would become the name to symbolically represent the prosperity that arose from the adversity endured through this cultivating process.
Maelström was now ready to make its mark in Huron County with a new brand and set of wine labels for their first lineup of limited edition bottles. The objective was to illustrate the Maelström story through a refined and elegant visual that was just as vibrant as their palatable wines.
The news of the Landsborough family’s success quickly spread throughout the region with many people flocking to the vineyard. Their wines continue to hold strong, earning Maelström the title of best winery within the whole of Huron County.
